The Illinois State Police (ISP) requires 16 hours of training to qualify for the Illinois CCW permit. In addition, the ISP requires that students complete a live-fire range qualification (discharging 30 rounds minimum at 5, 7 & 10 yards at a B27 target). Furthermore, the applicant has an option to purchase (optional) “live-scan” fingerprinting services to expedite and assure correct background check process completion – in order to qualify for the Illinois CCW.
This class includes:
Basic principles of marksmanship
Care, cleaning, loading, and unloading of a concealable firearm
All applicable State and Federal laws relating to the ownership, storage, carry, and transportation of a firearm
720 ILCS 24/1 et. seq. Unlawful Use of Weapons**
Live fire qualification with a concealable firearm consisting of minimum of 30 rounds which must include 10 rounds from a distance of 5 yards; 10 rounds from a distance of 7 yards; and 10 rounds from a distance of 10 yards at a B-27 silhouette target approved by the Illinois State Police.
